31 Days of Halloween - Day 8

Perhaps the greatest book to appear this Halloween season is "Mommy?" with art by Maurice Sendak and a scenario by Arthur Yorkins, based on his play "It's Alive." The story involves a tyke searching for his mommy, and instead encountering, and disarming, the Universal monsters, one by one, until he finds the one he's looking for.

This is Sendak's first foray into monster territory in some time, and his first pop-up book ever. The stunning paper engineering by Matthew Reinhart, more than lives up to the task, and truly is a marvel to behold. For a look at the creation of this amazing book, take a look here.
